The plumbing category offers some easy-fix solutions that can quickly save water and money.  For the kitchen sink, rather than choosing a regular faucet head, opt for a low-flow faucet head, that only outputs 0.5-2.5 gallons per minute.  The cost and labor to replace this is very minimal, while the saving potential is high.

Outside of the kitchen, other fixtures can be outfitted to be low-flow.  In the bathroom, for example, installing a 1.5 gallon per minute turbine shower head will achieve huge water savings versus a regular shower head at 3.0 gallons per minute.  When comparing the two for a ten minute shower, the low-flow head saves 15 gallons of water against the regular one — that’s 5,500 gallons of water saved each year!

For toilets, try Toto’s Eco Drake toilet, that uses 1.2 gallons per flush.  Although the water difference seems minimal, the actual savings can really multiply into a huge incentive to consider these low-flow products.
